About Us
Allow me to introduce our new editor here at Lighting for Worship, Adam York. Adam is a lighting designer in the Charlotte, NC area, and he’ll be taking over the reins here at LFW. I simply don’t have enough time to work a full-time job, try to do a little writing on the side and run this site as well. So Adam will be taking over the site immediately if not sooner, and will be able to hopefully grow this little piece of the internet into a great resource for anyone with questions on lighting for churches, events or other worship facilities.

Hi, I’m Adam, and I’m now the Us. John asked me to become an editor for Lighting for Worship, because he realized that a website like this should have some non company biased opinions. I’m a Freelance Production Electrician and Lighting Designer based in Charlotte N.C. I’m also an IATSE Stagehand and a Varilite certified technician with a degree in theater arts. I’m not exclusively a Church designer, and I would be remiss to claim I am. But I have done lighting for both large churches and small ones. Working in as a designer in a right to work state does gives me a unique perspective, because not only am I concerned with optics, color, response and timing as an artist; but as an electrician I’m also concerned with performance, durability and budget. I suppose I can sum myself up by saying, ” If your worship needs a VLX, save your pennies and get one, but if you only need a Par can, then go that way.” I don’t believe that a light is just a light, I believe in the right light for the right reasons.
